Meet the Parent Heart Team
Cecily Davis, MSW (she/her) is the Lead Facilitator for Parent Heart's Parenting While Black Program. As a parent herself, Cecily is focused on supporting Black parents in effectively socializing their children around issues of positive racial identity and coping with racial bias.
Monica Henderson, MPH is the program coordinator for Parent Heart. A health justice programmer and scholar, her work centers on child life outcomes and racial equity, focusing on Black youth.
Dr. Jay (he/him) is the Parent Heart Founder and CEO. As a husband and parent of two, and as teacher and scholar, Dr. Jay has seen and experienced many of life's challenges raising two Black children. He founded Parent Heart in 2022 to help families everywhere find the resources and supports they need to ensure their children's success.
Dr. June Ahn is a Professor and Senior Associate Dean Rat the University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Education. A parent also a parent of color, June specializes supporting projects at the intersection of technology, education, and community partnerships that advance social justice.
Dr. Stephanie Romero is the Founder and Executive Director of Awaken Pittsburgh, an organization that specially designs programs for students, educators, families, and various professionals to reduce stress and gain clarity in their daily lives. Stephanie is co-designer off the Mindful Connections programs offered at Parent Heart, which themselves are co-hosted by Awaken Pittsburgh through their Mindful Connections series.
Kumar Chinmay is a expert software engineer, product manager, and MBA candidate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Business. He specializes in collaborating with diverse teams to launch quality products for social good.
Sommer C. Blair, LSW, LMSW, is a doctoral student in the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, and is the director of the Parenting for Racial Equity Project (PREP). PREP supports White parents and caregivers in efforts to be intentionally inclusive and understanding their own privilege in their parenting practices.
